2022 RAM 3500 – Auto-Level Rear Air Suspension in St Paul, Alberta

Dec 6,2022

The 2022 RAM 3500 is the latest truck to get the auto-level air suspension option. This is not a new feature for RAM as it has been available on the 1500 for a few years. The air suspension system automatically adjusts ride height based on driving conditions and terrain. This can be done manually or automatically by using sensors that detect changes in road surface elevation. The driver can also manually adjust ride height using buttons on the dash. The 2022 RAM 3500’s auto-level rear air suspension uses two pneumatic struts at each corner of the truck to raise and lower each axle independently. There are no air springs or airbags in this system; each strut has an internal piston that compresses air at different times depending on what position it needs to be in, up or down. The advantage of this design over traditional coil springs is that there are no friction points between coils or other parts that can wear out over time — all of the parts inside these struts are designed to last for thousands of miles without the maintenance required. In addition, since there are no springs involved, there is less unsprung weight at each corner which improves handling and performance while reducing noise vibration and harshness levels inside the cabin.
