The 2022 Grand Cherokee offers three power-train options. Regardless of your power-train pick, the eight-speed automatic transmission is uniform. The basic models are RWD, while available AWD and 4WD options round up the power-train choices. The basic engine is V-6, 3.6-liter, producing 260 pound-feet of torque and 293 horsepower. The fuel economy is unlikely to be largely different to the outgoing Grand Cherokee model, which had a 25-26 and 18-19 miles per gallon rating for highway and city, respectively. This basic engine will be coupled with RWD as standard, but will also be compatible with the 4WD power-train. You can also get a V-8, 5.6-liter upgraded engine. It delivers 390 pound-feet of torque along with 357 horsepower. With the cylinder deactivation technology, it should be able to hit around 14 miles per gallon within the city and 22 on the highway – much like the last-generation model. 4WD and AWD will come standard with the upgraded engine. The Grand Cherokee 4xe is the first PHEV in the lineup, featuring an electric motor and a turbo-charged and 2.0-liter inline-four on the bell housing.
